Sean & Alexis
Q: When did you first meet and how?
A: Sean and I first met at a wedding in Grand Rapids, MI - my friend from college was marrying his friend and Baseball teammate - and they had been talking us up to each other, as we were the only two singles in the wedding party (we didn't walk down the aisle together though). After a very shy hello at the rehearsal dinner, we spent most of the wedding day and reception talking and dancing. The next day he got on a plane and went back to Colorado and I was heading back home to the East side of Michigan. He had asked for my number that morning, texted me when he landed and we've spoken every day since! The couple that got married will also be standing in our wedding in the summer of 2018.
Q: What about the design made you choose this ring to be the one?
A: This was actually a custom design that I loved and Sean worked with F&B to bring to life!
Q: In each your own words, can you describe what the days leading up to the proposal were like? Can you tell us about the proposal? (Feel free to be as detailed as possible!)
A: He kept it very quiet and I had no idea. Living together was easy and we had talked about spending our lives together, but in March of 2017, when I least expected it, Sean asked me to marry him. The engagement day was a great one! We went to see the live action Beauty and the Beast movie and were hanging at home with the puppies (by this time, we had decided to adopt a 12-week old puppy and had her for a week). Sean is a high school baseball coach and told me he had to run up to the baseball field, which was nothing out of the ordinary for him. I asked if I had to go and he ever so sweetly replied, “but I like it when you go with me.” So, we packed up the pups and drove up to the field.
He said that the speaker system was acting up and we should test it while we were there. He went up and put some music on, and me, having no idea what was going on, said to him, “the speakers sound fine to me.” He gave me a smile and laughed a little, and thinking back, I know why. He met me on the field and I heard Stand By Me start playing over the speakers (this song is significant in our relationship, but he had been playing it pretty frequently as of late, so I didn’t think it was anything out of the ordinary). I turned to watch our crazy dogs play, and he was standing behind me. I heard some movement and turned around to find him down on one knee. I immediately started crying, because it was completely unexpected, private and just the two of us and our pups! He said the sweetest words and asked me to marry him in a place that we spend so much time together. I’ve always loved him for his passion for coaching and baseball, and it was the perfect place to begin our new adventure, together.
Q: How was your overall experience with Fire & Brilliance? How did you first hear about us?
A: F&B has been great! They were very responsive, and helpful when starting the process of a custom ring with Sean (They lowered the center stone once, and we are currently waiting for a break in travel to send the ring back for them to replace a side stone, resize and possibly lower the center stone more - that doesn't need to be included but speaks to the willingness of the company to give their customers great service).
Lastly, we wanted to ask something of each our clients to be featured a question that is unique to their story.
Q: What do you each like doing that is different from the other and can still find admiration for it?
A: Sean coaches baseball in the Spring and Summer; it is his life. He is extremely passionate about the sport (he played Little League all the way up to professional - he was drafted by the Chicago Cubs organization after college). I love rock climbing and skiing and both are great activities in Colorado and I'm able to do them with a group of girlfriends.
