Marlie & Augustin

How did you two meet?

We actually met in 6th grade. It was the first day of starting a new school and he walked into my first class of the day. I still remember how excited I was when the teacher sat us next to each other. We stayed friends though out middle school and actually sat next to each other during our 8th grade graduation.

We started dating at the end of our freshman year of high school and have been together for almost 11 years now! We have two beautiful children and we couldn’t be happier to finally be planning our wedding.

That's so cute!! How did the proposal go?!

Thank you! I always love telling our little story because it feels like fate! The proposal was adorable!

He proposed on our 10th anniversary. All I knew was that we were going to go out to eat but he didn’t say what we were doing. He was being very vague lol.

We ended up getting sushi from the restaurant we use to go ALL the time in high school, and then we drove off to the beach. We finally found parking and ate our food.

Afterwards we walked down to the beach and he proposed right by the water. He was so nervous, it was cute. Then we drove back home and celebrated with our family.

What was the process like in choosing a ring? Was this something he researched and chose on his own, or did you guys design it together?

We went ring shopping the day before quarantine started and I fell in love with the emerald cut gems. Then, since quarantine happened all the jewelry shops closed so we resorted to looking online.

I actually did a lot of research on different sites and compared reviews. I knew little to nothing about moissanite. I found your YouTube page and I fell even more in love with how beautiful the moissanite stone is. It's such a stunning, underrated gem. We chose the ring together and he loves the ring just as much as I do!

What made you decide on this design that made you feel like it was the one?

As soon as I tried on the halo emerald ring I didn’t like anything else lol my mind was set!

Have you guys already had your wedding or has it been postponed due to the pandemic?

We haven’t had our wedding yet. Unfortunately wedding planning hasn’t been the easiest. We had a perfect venue but then it closed down due to COVID, which we were super upset about. We went from a 265 guest list to 30. I’ve been kind of playing it by ear as things slowly start to re-open, but my plans are to have an intimate backyard Airbnb wedding.

If there's any advice you could give to other couples struggling to plan their wedding during the pandemic, what would you say?

I think the best advice I could give to a soon-to-be bride is to just be patient. There's no need to rush such an important day. When we lost our venue it was heart wrenching and I was so determined to find a venue ASAP. I started compromising on things I didn’t even like but then I took a step back and realized that everything happens for a reason.

We cant control everything. We slowed things down and have been planning our wedding day by day. As things slowly start to re-open again, we’re taking the steps needed to plan our perfect day.

What’s your biggest hope and best case scenario for how you’d like your backyard Airbnb wedding to go?

My biggest hope for our Airbnb wedding is that everything goes smoothly! Lol theres so many details that go into such an important day.

What’s one thing you and your fiancé are looking forward to doing the most after the pandemic is over?

We’re definitely looking forward to seeing family. We’ve kept our distance to keep everyone safe and we miss everyone so much!
