Kevin & Amelia

Q: When did you first meet and how?

A: Would you believe we actually swiped each other on OkCupid and Tinder? It was a modern-day, meant-to-be situation. We first met at mini-golf. I (Amelia) have very little patience, so, poor Kevin was stuck with me while I went rogue. Our second date, on a dinner cruise, was much smoother. We danced and had the perfect dinner, and then a few weeks later I accepted an appointment to a school 600km away.

Kevin and I wanted to try long distance, and we did for a few months, but it wasn't without its challenges and eight hour phone conversations. It wasn't until one night in June, that he turned up at my door and told me he had interviewed for a job. He moved his whole life for me and I'll forever be grateful that I was enough and he saw something in me that he couldn't walk away from.

Q: What about it made you choose this ring design to be the one?

A: Right from the onset, we knew that the only design for us was going to be from you. We had changed our minds so many times - mainly due to the huge selection and custom modifications you offer. It was only when I saw this particular ring, that my heart felt so incredibly light. It was undoubtedly the ring. Classy and the perfect amount of too much.

Q: What were the days leading up to the proposal like? (Feel free to be as detailed as possible about the event!)

A: I (Amelia) am an over-planning, micromanaging, strip all the magic away type of girl. I didn't just want the ring and the proposal, the marriage has always been at the forefront of my mind. I wanted Kevin to be my husband, and thank heavens he has the patience of a saint. I knew the moment the ring had arrived, and poor Kevin had mere hours to prepare before I was home from teaching my Sixth Graders. I wasn't expecting any kind of surprise, but regardless, like in everything, he managed it. I walked into the house and nothing seemed to be amiss, and I went into the bedroom.

Kevin came in, looking all kinds of handsome, and I immediately burst into tears! He wanted me. He wanted me. He asked me to follow him, which I did - wailing as I walked. (Thank heavens we didn't have a photographer) and we were into one of the front rooms of the house that had been strung up with fairy lights and decorated with tealight candles. He told me how much he loved me, that I wasn't too much, or not enough, but the perfect amount. I cried for the entire speech. He asked me to make him the happiest man in the world, used my full name, and asked me to marry him. I managed to wail out a yes. It wasn't the proposal that eight-year-old me had imagined, but it's our story and absolutely perfect. Now our wedding is set for July 22nd, 2019, and I'm so excited to marry my best friend.

Q: How did you first hear about us? How was your overall experience with Fire & Brilliance?

A: I actually was doing some research on WeddingBee and looking for positive experiences, as well as websites that were easy to navigate, (and good prices). F&B had it all. Everyone I have spoken to has been so wonderful and patient. I am so grateful for the entire team. I'm just over the moon.

Q: If your partner was any color of the rainbow, what would they be and why?

A: I'm sure if Kevin was any color of the rainbow, he'd be a perfect, clear blue. He's so incredibly patient, kind and has been everything I've needed and more. I'm absolutely smitten with him and I can't believe my luck that he wants to marry me.
