Q: When did you first meet and how?
A: When I was 15, I became best friends with a boy named Brandon. We went to the same high school, music school, and played guitar together a lot so we got close very quickly. One day while have a jam session, he told me a friend of his was coming over. Some one he had known since elementary school. Dan walked in and looked like your typical 2002 “emo kid” with dyed bright red curly hair, JNCO jeans, the works. But before I really noticed any of that, I saw his eyes. These grey blue, green eyes. Captivated me. Caught me instantly and I said to myself, “Katie, you’re going to make him your boyfriend.” Obviously, I was a very confident 15-year-old haha. We did start “dating” or whatever it is when you’re young kids and your parents have to drive you to the movies. We were together a few months, but he went to a different high school and then college far away and we lost touch. I never forgot him though because Brandon and I stayed friends….and those darn eyes!
Fast forward to 2009 I was managing a retail store and Brandon came in for an application. My exact words to him after he asked for a job were, “If Dan is single and you give me his phone number, I’ll hire you.” Ten minutes later, I was texting Dan and Brandon had a new part time job. We hung out that night and we were inseparable ever since.
Q: What about the design made you choose this ring to be the one?
A: There’s just something about it….I think I had it bookmarked for over a year! I went through the whole site 100 times and debated here and there over a couple others, but I loved how this one would be easy to clean and have HUGE sparkle at the same time. I won’t have to worry about needing it professionally cleaned too often because there's enough room under the stones and around them to gently do it myself. I’m very DIY, lol.
I also LOVED the six prongs. It makes me feel safer wearing it, especially since I had the option for a low setting. My sister-in-law is actually thinking of getting her CZ replaced in her engagement ring with a moissy from you and having it set with 6 prongs because the look is just stunning.
Q: In each your own words, can you describe what the days leading up to the proposal were like? Can you tell us about the proposal? (Feel free to be as detailed as possible!)
A: Hahaha, I’m so sorry, but we have a very boring story here. He basically just asked me if I wanted to go to the courthouse with our parents and make it official and we ordered the ring together online. When it got here it was snowing terribly, so we couldn’t go to our spot by the beach. He just got down on one knee in our living room. I still cried even though I knew it was coming hahaha.A: OMG AMAZING. You guys dealt with me calling 100 times to ask questions about when I’d get it. You went out of your way to make sure it got to be within a week of my wedding (bc we planned it in 3 weeks lol)
My favorite part though was when someone would call to confirm or ask for my fiancé, whose name was on the bill, and I’d answer. They’d get a little stumbly with their words, not sure how to ask for him or say who’s calling, so I’d have to say DON'T WORRY I know the ring is coming—I picked it out. Made me giggle every time.
