Allie & Eric
How did you two meet?
We met in college. We were both film majors and ended up in a class together.
Did you guys just hit it off after meeting each other in class?
We actually didn’t talk much in that class, but a few months later we worked on a short film together and really hit it off then!
How long did you two date until you got married?
We’ve been dating since January of 2014. Although, we did split up for a year - he graduated college and moved across the country while I still had another year of school left. So we’ve been together now for 5 1/2 years, but over the course of 6 1/2 years. We got engaged in November of 2019 and we’re planning to get married on April 3rd, 2021. 😊
Can you tell me about how the proposal went? Did COVID affect your wedding date?
We had planned a trip to London and Paris for the fall, months before we even started discussing getting engaged. After we had designed and purchased the ring, I had a feeling Eric would pop the question at some point on that trip.
On our first day in Paris, we actually took a day trip out of the city to the small town of Giverny to visit Monet's Gardens. Claude Monet is one of my favorite painters, so I'd been wanting to visit the water lily pond for years.
We were walking down the little path around the pond when Eric put his arms around me from behind and held up the ring. He spun me around and got down on one knee. We were giddy the rest of the day and spent the rest of the trip celebrating! We took our engagement photos in Paris a few days after the proposal in Giverny.
We got engaged on November 1st, 2019. We knew we wanted a spring wedding in Savannah, Georgia, so April 2021 was our plan from the start. Our date hasn’t been affected by COVID yet - hopefully everything works out as planned!
Tell me about your ring design! What about it made you decide that it was the one for you?
I knew I wanted a ring with a vintage feel, but all the actual vintage rings I could find just weren't quite right. I wanted something delicate with small detailing, so when I found the Jules design, I knew it was the one.
I modified the original design by adding diamond accents on either side and tucking in the basket slightly. I opted for the Old Mine Cut Cushion Cut stone to give it even more of vintage vibe. It turned out beautiful and it's everything I could've ever hoped for!
Did you design the ring and the modifications together? If so how was your experience designing the ring?
I designed/modified the ring myself. During the spring of 2019, Eric and I started talking about getting engaged, so I started the design process, which was really great.
I did everything over email with a customer service rep and the experience was so smooth from start to finish. The ring was finished in May and he held on to it until November. He wouldn’t let me see it until he proposed!
